I bought my camera on October 30th, 2005. On that day my life changed irrevocably. Since then I have taken literally 10s of thousands of photos. To say photography has become a passion of mine would be a gross understatement. To say it has become an addiction or an obsession would place it into the close proximity to what photography has become for me.

Whether I walk down a city street or through a forest I no longer see as I once did. Now I see light, I see shadows and darkness. I see the interplay between all three. I see form and shapes. I see images taken by my mind's eye. I stop and stare. I return and look again and then look again.......

A request -- don't you place an award on a photo and leave - I don't know what you really think about my photograph. I honestly want to know what you think of the photograph, good, bad, or otherwise.

    Painted Light says:

"Life is funny sometimes. I met Jim a few years ago through work. I would not have predicted at the time how his influence and advice would have allowed me to rediscover my love for photography. Jim is a very talented photographer, as you can all see from his photostream, but it is his patience, attention to detail, and willingness to keep learning and pushing himself to greater heights that give him his unique style. He is always willing to help and share his knowledge with others. I look forward to seeing more of your fantastic work, Jim!!!"

    Torri 479 says:

"James has a talent for capturing not only a person within an image, but he magically finds a way of bringing the subjects emotion, voice and history to the photo as well. His camera sees past the form of the body and reaches the heart."
