The Greater Toronto CivicAction Alliance is the new name of an organization with a proven track record of catalyzing change and convening civic leaders to tackle the big issues facing the Toronto region. Formerly called the “Toronto City Summit Alliance,” we’ve maintained our vision of improving our region’s social, economic and environmental future. We’re still a coalition of thousands of civic leaders, and we’re emphasizing our commitment and approach to building civic leadership.

We convene individuals and organization from all sectors to tap into the true leadership potential of the Toronto region. CivicAction focuses on issues that will benefit from a concerted multisectoral effort to address them. We engage the key players – including the “unusual suspects” – and leverage their collective energy, networks and thought leadership to drive real progress on pressing issues.

Established in 2002 as the Toronto City Summit Alliance, we provide a platform for addressing challenges to the future of the Toronto region such as capitalizing on our diversity advantage, renewing our infrastructure, and affordable housing. Since our 2003 launch report, Enough Talk: An Action Plan for the Toronto Region, we and our business, academic, government, labour and not-for-profit partners have launched many innovative responses to emerging challenges. We focus on issues where there is a clear consensus for action and where progress can be made quickly.

CivicAction is building on the momentum of the Toronto City Summit Alliance’s past in continuing to drive real change on tough issues and big opportunities for the Toronto region.
