I'm a journalist whose feature writing and arts criticism have appeared in a variety of British and American publications including Artrocker, Dazed & Confused, Flux, Fused, Ghettoblaster, R2 and Skyscraper.

As North East correspondent for both Drowned In Sound and FACT I have written extensively on the region’s burgeoning music scene and produced some of the earliest coverage of local bands including Let’s Buy Happiness, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Little Comets, Detroit Social Club and Mansfield Holiday.

I'm a former Online Editor of Manchester-based arts and culture ‘zine Rant! and contributed extensively to Bestival’s festival programmes in 2006 and 2007. My expertise has also been called on by BBC Tyne and as a selection panellist for Evolution Emerging.

I graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2002 with a degree in Media & Cultural Studies.

I currently live in Gateshead where I continue to report on music and culture for a variety of outlets. My interests include popular music, film, literature, sport and my beloved Newcastle United.
