Tommy Gilligan is the Photo Editor and lead photojournalist for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Gilligan's portfolio ranges from covering presidential visits, NCAA Division I athletics, military training and academic events. Gilligan also freelances for NFL, NCAA and Major League Baseball affiliates, portraits, with occasional wedding assignments upon request.

A native Bostonian, he started his career in photography after enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 2003, where he was assigned to the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) aircraft carrier, home ported in Mayport, Fla. He served both as a flight deck and aerial photographer from 2004 until the ship was decommissioned in 2007. Gilligan transferred to the Defense Information School at Fort Meade, Md., where he served as a photojournalism instructor until the summer of 2009. Upon completion of his service to the U.S. Navy, Gilligan moved to the New York City area to pursue his passion in story telling through his lens.
