I'm a computer expert (born 1975) and my Canon EOS 20D and cheap 90-300mm let me get fun wildlife pictures in the city of Helsinki (in southern Finland). My 85mm F/1.8 "portrait lens" gets good low-light cat show and tame squirrel face shots.
My top 20 interesting shots are 12 squirrels and 8 cats... They are my specialty; my landscape and people pics suck.
I appreciate rarity value in photographs. Anything that is easy to repeat is frowned upon, unless it is absolutely sharp, detailed and well-lit.
E.g. cat sits, dog runs, squirrel eats; flowers, buildings, streets, clouds... Studio work and people posing hold very little interest for me.
I love to crop photos in editing; the wildlife is usually too far to properly fill the original shot. Some days my posted pictures get much post-processing: noise reduction, levels, optional saturation boost, tight or loose crop, background noise reduction, (sharpen, save print version), resize, sharpen, save Flickr version.
