Rarely using a studio, I like the versatility of small hand held or portable lights, utilizing any space around. The majority of my work is shot with a mid-seventies Canon 35mm my mother gave to me years ago; the other with a digital camera used in the same manual manner, when time is an issue. I prefer to spend at least an hour with my subjects, before shooting, to get a feel for their personality and facial expressions. Deciding what works best for who. Forcing sadness or a smile can leave you with a photo as transparent as the glass above it.
