(May07)My personal quest is to photograph 100 different species of BIRD-IN-FLIGHT images for the one full year starting from Febuary 18 2007, my first posting of the mallard duck on Flickr. Three conditions apply:
1. The birds must be wild;
2. The images must be of good qualitiy, and ;
3. The bird must be one of the North American species as laid out by this web site (but not necessarily seen or photographed in North America): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_North_American_birds

(Dec 31, 2007) My next challenge is to see how long will it takes me to capture 300 different (N.American) species of birds- in-flight. Number 300 is the limit in my estimation ,and beyond that the resources spent will not be justified. I also consider the fact that many species are either hard to find or not easy to capture in-flight (e.g. warblers and small birds); or they just won't fly, period.(e.g. rails and grebes). For now, I'd say I shall quit at #300 if I ever get there !!!

(Nov 15,2008) 300 accomplished. No more promises to meself.

My cameras are : Canon DSLR 30D 40D 50D 5D 1DMk3 5DMk2 7D

    "I don't know much about "Tinyfishy" much personally but for me he's the best avian photographer. I've been following his photographs for quite some time and each of his new photograph seems to give me more motivation to improve myself. The different moods in which he has captured the different birds he's photographed tells a lot about how much efforts go into getting a good photograph. All i can say is keep it up and one day "maybe " i'll get close to what you deliver."

    "Although I have only browsed through some recent photos of Al, I undoubtedly noticed that watching his photos is a joy and I will certainly come back to look at all his photos when I have free time. His (small) bird-in-flight photos collection is the best I have ever seen in Flickr.

    He has an incredible sense and skill, and a great passion to capture in-flight birds - one of the most difficult challenges in photography.

    Hope that I will be able to learn one thing or two from such excellent Flickr's photographers as Al. After visiting your photostream, the only thing that I regret is that I didn't know you earlier!

    Looking forward to seeing your new photos, Al.

    "Al has a healthy following of fans here on Flickr. If you take a gander at his awesome photostream you will immediately understand why.

    There are a good number of excellent bird photographers that routinely post gorgeous images on Flickr, but none with consistently high standards of quality and composition than Al. He is the best, IMHO. What a talent, what a collection and how very fortunate we are that he shares his tremendous body of work for all of us to enjoy.

    Thanks Al, you're one in a million.

    "Al is a sensational (bird) photographer and one of the finest here on flickr. The quality and the composition of his images is just outstanding....one of the best I have ever seen on flickr....it's a great pleasure to view his birds in their natural environment.
    Al has created a portfolio of remarkable images full of beauty, elegance and grace! Flickr is a better place because Al is here - and I'm proud to call him a great fellow photographer and a friend. I would love to quote him here for his passion for photography in his own words.

    “I have spent most of my spare time over the year chasing after images of BIRDS during the day and sorting and posting them at night.
    I have travelled North, South, East and West, lugging my equipments which are quite heavy and costly.
    I have fell in water, trapped in mud, hung on cliffs and trespassed on a farmer's land (unknowingly, resulting in argument) and neglected my friends and families just to satisfy this obsession “

    Congratulations Al and thanks for sharing your great work and inspiring and supporting me!
