I am a great believer in the fact that the camera is only a tool. I hate people who say - "Can you take a picture for me, because your camera is brilliant?!!" Stupid camera - of course it isn't! Expensive, maybe! - Brilliant?- Sadly no! Hopefully one day if I persevere, some of the photos I take will be appreciated. If a photo stirs a pleasant emotion, then it has done its job!

I love viewing good photos, and have found Flickr to be an inspiring source. I get frustrated because I can't muster the same enthusiasm for my own photos. I think there must be an artist in me somewhere, waiting to get out. Please don't hesitate to offer constructive criticism. How else am I going to learn?! If you love or hate something I've done, I'd like to know why!

Please - NO AWARDS or INVITES! As much as I appreciate the intent behind Awards and Invites, I prefer not to have them. I've decided not to do groups at all. No offence intended! I'd rather have an honest opinion than an award or hasty 'i was here' marker! So don't feel obligated to comment on every photo - I won't fall out with you!

Lately, I've found myself leaning towards Portraits. I love images with human interest. So sorry if I'm not commenting on still life and landscapes as much as I used to!

If you would like to download any of my work, please ask my permission first. If I feel uncomfortable about the content of your photostream or favourites I will block you from my stream.

My Photographic History
My very first camera was a Kodak Instamatic when I was about 9 or 10 years old. My interest in photography came from my dad who did aerial reconnaissance photography when he was in the RAF. As I got a little older he let me use his Kodak Retina II. It was a wonderful camera with a range-finder that split the image in a small diamond shape centre. When the image lined up, you where in focus! I then moved on to a German SLR camera, an Exacta which I still have in a dusty box in the attic. I added a couple of Practica models to my collection.

My entry to the digital world started with a 2.1mp Olympus Camedia D-490 Zoom which I bought from a family member for a song and a £20 note (had cost him around £300 - £400 a year or two earlier!! Finally I saved up and bought my current camera - A 4mp Konica/Minolta Z3 - I long to get a Canon SLR but will have to patiently wait until I can afford one!!
Update: As of Tuesday 17th February 2009 I am the excited owner of a Canon EOS 30D!! Uploads will follow shortly!

    Dr Freezo says:

"Tim has become one of my closest flickr friends. I can always count on him to not just glance at my work and offer quick praise, but to actually study the images and give suggestions, both technical and artistic, with the purpose of helping be better my craft. He's a master at dishing out both praise and CC all in the same sentence! His keen eye has forced me to rethink much of my post-processing work and photography techniques and work that much harder to improve my skills. Now to discuss Tim as a photographer and artist. Take a look at his photostream, and you will see the work of a man who is always experimenting and pushing himself as an artist. You'll see a number of excellent photo manipulations, such as Tim's eyes on his own dog, which I think is classic. His recent attempt at creating digital makeup on a model's eyes in various hues and shades is amazing. Even the texture of the makeup is realistic. In every way, Tim is a wonderful friend to have on flickr. If you want a visitor to your photostream who's not afraid to give honest CC and who works hard to put his own suggestions into practice, then Tim's your man. If you want a flickr friend who offers a photostream that is always interesting and a delight to visit, then once again ... Tim's your man."
