Timespan is a fascinating museum and arts centre that presents a diverse programme of heritage, visual arts and crafts exhibitions and events. Situated in the picturesque fishing village of Helmsdale, it is a vibrant meeting place between our past and our future; linking culture, heritage, the arts, people and their ideas.

During your visit to the centre you are invited to explore the museum using the latest technology to step back in time and experience life in Helmsdale in the 1900s. Find out more about the Kildonan Gold rush and spend time in the storytelling room watching animated tales of local myths and legends. In the community archive you can trace your roots or just spend time trawling through the extensive collection of local images, interviews and letters.

The gallery hosts an ever changing programme of exhibitions of visual art and crafts by international, national and local artists. Timespan hosts at least two artist residencies a year in which it invites the artists to spend time in the community to create a body of work that is inspired by the people and heritage of the area.
