My name is Karen.

I am an experimentalist more than anything else. Photography and photo editing (or "cheating" as they say) is a hobby and not something that I do professionally.

I call myself an amateur photographer because (1) I'm still learning how to use my camera, and (2) I have much to learn.

While I realize that I do post some awful photographs here, I post them because in some way or another, they mean something to me. And surprisingly enough, some people like some of my junk. ;)

Unfortunately, I don't have a tripod, so I have a hard time getting a steady grip with my hands on those pictures I have taken digitally. Of course this doesn't apply to photos where I don't need to zoom in and where I take advantage of the automatic flash.

All the others photos that I have in my collection are old, taken with a non-digital camera and scanned.

Then there are some pictures that are non-photos (which are more of a scrapbook collection of memorabilia and scanned.

Last, but not least, I have pictures that I had taken back in the day when I was a photography student in college as that was my minor. However, having scanned them with their frames has compromised a lot of the true quality. Someday, I plan to take them out of their frames and scan them as is.

皆さん、こんにちは！

私はカレンと申します。生まれ育った所はマイアミです。大学卒業したら、日本に暮らす事になりました。日本に英会話の先生として1992年から 1998年まで働いていました。日本で非常に楽しい生活が出来ました。沢山日本人の友達を作き、思い出として、記憶に残ってます。いつまでもそうですね。

帰国したら、仕事の為、ロスに移住し、５年間住んでいられました。その間に夫と結婚しました。現在は夫とテキサス州のサンアントニオ市に暮らしをし、何とか一生懸命生きています。

アメリカ に 帰って 来て から全く日本語を使って い なかった ので 、今はあの時のようには話せません 。

リスニングは問題 ないのですが 、日本語を話すのが苦手です 。初心に戻って勉強し直しです！

日本と慣れた事について、悔しく辛い時がちょくちょく感じますね。それに日本や日本人や日本語が大好きで、日本語を忘れない様に勉強を頑張って続けるつもりです。
