Thoos is the newest creation of Get Out Sports, an online sports resource started by husband and wife team Sean and Anne Hudson. In 2000, Get Out Sports began with Camp4.com, a site devoted to climbing, climbing photography, and climbing literature. For the past three years, it has been ranked on Forbes Magazine’s Best of the Web as one of the best climbing websites.

In 2004, Get Out Sports launched RunningPlaces.com, an online community-created database of running places, events, groups, and people. RunningPlaces.com fulfilled the Hudsons’ dream of a free quality online information resource for runners. By 2005, CyclingPlaces.com was launched to extend the concept to the cycling community.

The year 2005 brought new life not only to the Hudson family (a baby girl, born in June!) but also to the Get Out Sports vision. The concept behind RunningPlaces.com and CyclingPlaces.com grew to incorporate other non-motorized sports such as skiing, fishing, paddling, paragliding, surfing, and skating on the internet. All the “places” sites were rolled into one single site - Thoos.com. Most importantly, Thoos.com would be a social networking site to encourage online athletes to share their interests and information.

Thoos is the Internet’s social guide to adventure. If you are looking for comparisons, it is like the MySpace.com or FaceBook.com of the outdoor sports world. All recreational to competitive athletes can post and find information on their favorite sports, find events to attend, and groups to join. Thoos is socially oriented with such features as a personal page for every member; the Partner Finder tool; comment fields for every place, event, and group; and a goals section for posting and searching common sports related goals.
