The Firm that I work for is sponsoring a photography competition and I just wanted to let people know in case they were interested in entering.

One of the judges is Charlie Waite and the prizes are quite something including Air South West tickets, a 1:1 workshop with Lee Pengelly and loads of surf stuff.

I didn't want to do an e-mail to everyone on my contact list (because it would be spam ya'll and spam sucks... sorry David and Andy) but if you know of anyone else who might want to have a go please pass the information on. Thanks for your time...

Heres the blurb...

Foot Anstey is proud to support the Spirit of the South West photography competition.

All proceeds from the competition go to Plymouth-based Jeremiah’s Journey, a charity that offers support and information to children and their families when someone special has died.

The aim of the competition is to celebrate the wonderful region in which we live and work.

If you have captured the Spirit of the South West then your entry could win you a fantastic prize in the main competition and a place at our exhibition on 8 October 2009. This showcase will take place at our fabulous new harbourside offices, Salt Quay House, in Plymouth.

Schools and children are also invited to send their entries to win the Spirit of the South West Schools competition 2009 and the chance to be exhibited.

Foot Anstey would like to thank Charlie Waite, Air Southwest, Eden Project, Isles of Scilly Travel, Silverscene Photography, Animal, Lucia Griggi and Alex Williams for their kind support.

So what are you waiting for?

I know very little about photography... and what little I do know I learnt using a "Point and Shoot" El Cheapo camera....

I'm using a Nikon D70s with the following lenses:-

My lenses:-

* Sigma DC 18-200mm 1:3.5-6.3 (on the camera almost all the time)
* Nikon 35-70mm 1:3.3-4.5 (found on my dads camera 12 years ago & in ok shape)
* Sigma DC 55-200mm 1:4-5.6 HSM (whatever the hell HSM means)
* Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 (which is also meant to be macro but is too damn heavy unless its on a tripod…)

Any suggestions what I should ditch or replace?

I live in Plymouth and I make no apology for the fact that I take a tonne of pictures of Plymouth Sound... it's a truly breathtaking view that I never grow tired of...

I've had a photograph published.... does that make me a professional???
