Graffiti is the purest form of public expression. There is no greater civil deed one can do than to beautify the dirty city with pure, uncensored creation. Tagging is more than personal freedom of expression; indeed, it is a grass-roots effort to take back our liberty from the oppressive capitalistic system which allows corporations to disregard the well-being of the people. Graffiti is not blight, instead it is the opening salvo of the revolution.

The artist wishes to celebrate a lower form of grafitti that often gets overlooked. Works done in marker or pen by those with less intellect, ability, or creativity than the vanguard still may have important things to say. Time is ripe for these proclamations to be explored and considered. Now is the time for the voices of the people to be communicated so that we may be able to gain a better grasp on the parameters of the new paradigm being initiated by the brewing revolution.

For this series, the artist performs dual roles as photojournalist and also that of artist. The artist controls the camera obscura while anonymous strangers contribute their hopes, dreams, and regrets.
