I'm just delighted that old Fotolog members have (maybe) found a home!

I'm a 61year old woman, retired now with a disability, who finds almost daily that seeing the world thru a camera lens changes perceptions of life itself. I am a Photoshop nut and most of my images are of the beauties around me in the natural world. People are okay, but I'd rather shoot Redwoods or the Pacific any day.

Just scored a new camera - a Panasonic DMC FZ30, with which I am head over heels in love. Others which I thought to rotate but instead have been relegated to the back room include a Panasonic DMC FZ1 with a fantastic Leica 12X lens, a Minolta DiMage 5 and a Fuji 2900. And I believe Photoshop is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and consider it no more than an electronic darkroom - vital to good digital photography.

Finally, I am forever grateful for having found photo sharing sites like Flickr, Fotolog, PBase and Fotothing. I find I am a far better photographer when I study the work of my peers. That and the fact that I now tend to shoot far more images in order to keep up. Practise may not make perfect, but it does make it better!

"The only thing to compare to nan's wonderful photographs are her captions. She's a writer without peer as she observes and reports on the world around her. And I haven't even begun to talk about her musical tastes, which are awsome. But most of all, I'm glad she's my friend."

    Room With A View says:

"I'm an ex-pat from the north coast of California and I'm addicted to Nan's views of my home territory.

She gets everything about it in her photos: the range of light and subtle color changes, the changing quality of the air in clear or foggy moments, the wild things that live there.

But most important she shows us the unchallenged power of this mighty coastline. People are incidental to this place. The rocks and sea rule. Nan's pictures are an important environmental statement. No one could disagree with the rightness of this wild, unexploited coast."

"I am quite fannish of the nannish. Her work has a sweet quality, like a hot apple pie right out of the oven. So, sit back, put your feet up (but not on the coffee table), and just soak in all of that sweet, sweet life that Nan portrays here. I'll take mine with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, please."
