"Tom's work is somewhere on the opposite end of the spectrum from the "eye candy" mode of photography. He sees and captures bits and pieces of the world which, if you put them all together, show a place which we probably wouldn't pick out of a catalog and say, "yeah, that's where I want to live." But it's the world we've got, or perhaps what we've made of the one we were given.
We need to be reminded of this from time to time. That's why some of us choose straight, black coffee over that other stuff - the four bucks a cup, fancy name concoctions. Tom does a great job of finding and sharing such reminders."22nd August, 2008
