You'll notice that neither 'photographer' nor 'artist' appear on my list.

Some people on flickr say they only upload photos they're especially proud of; the carefully considered, well composed, technically fabulous ones; the rest they leave on their hard drives. I tend to upload the lot. If I had to wait till I took something that was worth a damn I'd never post anything. So please, go easy on me. All my photos are spontaneous, blurry, out-of-focus, badly composed and disposable. Pretty bad, really.

(I've just found out that one of my most excellent friends from the art degree days is going back to do an MA in documentary photography. She has fantastic eyes; I'm almost embarrassed about these photos to the point that I may not remind her they're here.)

My throwaway, more_enthusiasm_than_ability style might be a result of my cameras: I used to have a proper digital camera, but nothing really that exciting came of it. I didn't like the way it made me feel like A Photographer who is about to Take A Photograph. Far too conspicuous. All I ever use, really, are cameraphones. I found Flickr before I had a digital camera, so I rushed out and bought one of those little keychain cameras. Great fun. Using cameraphones, and now an iPhone, means I always have something to hand, but don't lend themselves to anything too pretty, or composed. Not when I use them anyway. Perhaps I'm just a bad workman blaming his tools.

Still, you've got to keep trying, haven't you.
