Terri Light Photo - Detroit's photostream  

I'm enamored with natural light even in the most impossible situations. I have a hankering for the quirky, a need for the detail and a penchant for the surreal.

As a child I wanted to be a National Geographic photographer, clicking and writing my way around the globe. Now, a couple dozen years later, I click and write my way around Detroit and into the rural Midwest, the Pacific Northwest, Canada and back home to my native East Coast. I shoot Pentax, and have for {ahem} decades, because they make a superior product for less money (and my K20Ds are real tanks!) but we can still hang out if you shoot Nikon and Canon (or Sony or Olympus or Hasselblad or Holga or oatmeal box pinhole...). In the long run, it is not the equipment but the eye that makes the composition. The cameras just help us paint.

On the business side, I'm a freelance photojournalist and member of the National Press Photographers Association. My photos are my property and subject to the laws of copyright. My day job is as a graphic designer. As a digital pre-press specialist, I wrangle code and make sure the digital donut batter is ready to make the printed donuts (per se). It is a job by rote and I completely EXIST to get home and get the camera out of the bag and go completely creative. Live music in Detroit is my passion. Urbex is my sometimes companion. And my fellow photographers in Exposure Detroit really kick some a**!!!
