Well I've been shooting for a full year now with my Nikon D50. I've definitely grown during my journey, I've learned so much along the way. When I began I thought it impropper to digitally alter my photos. It was my belief that this was "cheating", and would rather learn from my mistakes than try to correct them with a computer mouse. I stuck with this for the better part of 10 months or so, and have only recently begun to post process at all.

I realize now that while there is certainly great value in knowing ones equipment well enough to take a wonderful photo right out of the camera, there is no shame in using all available means to create the best shot possible. Afterall, this is a form of art, and each artist may use different tools to arive at their destination.

Even though I'm now beginning to post process, I still use only old Nikkon glass, all fully manual focus and metering. This is both because I try to budget myself carefully (I'm not spending $1000 on a VR lens any time soon), and also because I enjoy the creative process of using them.

If you've read any or all of this then thank you for your time. I hope you enjoy some of my work. I love to get feedback on my shots, and love to explore the vast amounts of talent on Flickr to continue expanding my horizons.

Cheers

-Ian
