I have endeavored to quit all groups that require comments. My motivation to join and post in any group is not for the purpose of getting comments. I merely want to post in order to share what I see and how I see. Now do not get me wrong, I enjoy comments, but not want required commenting.


Difficult describing oneself. Self proclaimed photographer, woodworker, retired professor, Christian, husband, father, and most importantly grandfather (these are not in any order). Been taking pictures since 1961, taking photographs for about 10 years. I use digital and film (mostly BW and postive film), 35mm, 120 and a little large format. Love holga and pinhole. Night photography is a passion. Do all of my own BW in my darkroom. Enjoy different printing and toning strategies. Favorite film; Infrared (HIE). Favorite photo target; grandsons. I read a lot of photograph books and magazines. I read photography theory, photo criticism, and photo techniques. I enjoy the art of criticism, not criticizing but criticism and critique.

Photography has a wonderful history, technologically, artistically, philosophically, socially, politically, even economically. Photographs can document, irritate, stimulate, record, create emotions, and be fun. Everyone has a strong opinion as to "what photography is". Fortunately, we are all correct and then some. Photography is art for the masses, for the technofreak, for the technophobe, for the scientist, for the compulsive, for the control freak, for children, teens, professionals, amateurs, young, old, everyone. It provides a creative outlet for people with no artistic talent as well as those with the magic eye. It can be a private endeavor or public. We can toss our bad shots or publish and post them On flickr there is a lot of posting. Photography requires little physical strength, little talent, little thought, and little knowledge to make us happy. However, all of those attributes are great if you possess them.
