My name is Michael Theess. I was born and raised up in Bremen, Germany. Since my 20th year I have been living in or near Braunschweig, Germany. There are some links to Hamburg since my father and grandfather came from there, and two of my three children are living now there.

I have been interested in photography since my childhood but mainly took photos for family and holiday reasons. Only after I bought a DSLR for my 60th birthday I have taken photography more serious. When I discovered the fantastic possibilities of the digital workflow and the wealth of information and exchange of ideas in the internet, I was hooked and photography developed to my main hobby. Now, after my retirement at 63, I also have more time for it.

I have a broad interest in photography with special attention to nature, architecture and travel photography. I try to capture the beautiful and the remarkable.

If you define me as a contact you are welcome. However I will only in very few cases define you as a contact too. I try to keep the number of my contacts within manageable limits because I want to regularly look at the photo stream of my contacts and make comments to some of their photos.


Ich heiße Michael Theeß und bin in Bremen geboren und aufgewachsen. Seit meinem zwanzigsten Lebensjahr lebe ich in oder dicht bei Braunschweig. Es gibt einige Verbindungen nach Hamburg, da mein Vater und Großvater von dort kamen und zwei meiner drei Kinder jetzt dort leben.

Die Fotografie hat mich seit meiner Kindheit interessiert, allerdings habe ich die meiste Zeit dann doch nur innerhalb der Familie und auf Reisen fotografiert. Das hat sich erst durch den Kauf einer digitalen Spiegelreflexkamera zu meinem sechzigsten Geburtstag geändert. Nachdem ich die Möglichkeiten der digitalen Verarbeitung kennengelernt habe und auch durch den Reichtum an Informationen und guten Beispielen im Internet hat sich das Fotografieren zu meinem größten Hobby entwickelt. Jetzt habe ich auch viel mehr Zeit dazu, da ich kürzlich mit 63 in Rente gegangen bin.

Mich interessieren viele Bereiche der Fotografie, insbesondere Natur-, Architektur- und Reisefotografie. Ich versuche das Schöne und das Interessante dieser Welt festzuhalten.
