I've owned a digital camera since 1998 and have probably taken about 10k photos a year (everyone thinks I'm quite mad) I only delete the dud ones and keep everything else - I had to buy a separate hard disc for my laptop - best investment I've made in years!

My cameras so far were all Fujis (MX500 lost in the back of a cab in Boston; 6800, F401) and looking around on flickr they didn't do a bad job - but I can see the greater capacity and versatility of the digital SLR's and might splash out one day...they're just so much bigger and seem to come with all sorts of gizmos.
Having said all that my trusty F401 gave up the ghost November 2007. After 4 years and about 40k photos who could blame it! So a quick search revealed the Nikon S200 quite a good buy. I like compact cameras because you can take them everywhere. This S200 is so small it slips into a shirt pocket. Getting used to it is quite another matter...It has severe limitations but that hasn't prevented me taking some quite good shots.
By October 2008 I had taken 8000+ photos with it and got used to its shortcomings. It's fine when good natural light is available. Although the S200 boasts 7m Mega pixels, when it comes to dusk it does have problems capturing the available light and tries to compensate with a higher ASA resulting in foggy pictures with washed out colours. it also misreads distance, even using flash or macro mode, resulting in fuzzy pictures, something I did not experience with the Fujis.
My work place provides me with an iphone and i use that frequently. There is absolutely no control but flickr's picnik helps to restore light balance and sharpness. The great thing is that it automatically stores location information! Whatever next?
In the end the S200 gave up 2 weeks ago. A quick search online revealed the Fuji Finepix S2950 a good buy with 14M and 18x optical zoom - I fell for it and it arrived today! (24.6.11)

I carry a camera most days. Most of my shots for work are food items, supermarkets, food factories, food exhibitions and so on. We import charcuterie, olives, antipasti, cheeses etc. from 10 European countries - so there is plenty of opportunity. When I go on holiday I snap most things in sight. We love cruising and my best experience yet was docking at Valetta, Malta early one morning with the red sun rising behind us. The sun slowly picked out the soft sand stone of this medivael citiy and we felt like pirates capturing a new island.... As our ship got closer and closer one could make out the streets with their lights still on and a city slowly coming out of it's slumber. Then we edged into the harbour and turned a full 180 deg. with the tops of houses at eye level with our ship.

"If I am asked, "Who is the most adventurous person you know?", Then my answer would be a swift response; Without hesitation, it is this man- Werner, A.K.A Tedsco57!!!!!! I mean, HE CARVES HIS OWN JAMON IBERICO... AT HOME!! ;D

He takes us to his exotic voyages around the globe, The greatest Restaurants, and Markets/Vendors, culinary adventures in his kitchen with a detailed step=by-step recipe photos ..But Werner also shows us simple, fun times at his home in the U.K.

Due to my profession, I cannot take off to travel around the globe as much as I want to... When the travelbug bites me(as it often does), I just take a 'trip' on this man's photostream. There's nothing like it! Keep up the good work Sir!"
