I've been taking pictures for as long as I can remember. My earliest camera was a little 110 film camera; I used it to explore my small world, taking pictures of anything and everything. I later moved on to a manual SLR and after that an AF SLR, the wonderful Nikon 6006. I shot with this camera for many years and only reluctantly started to transition from film to digital, encouraged by the increasingly high cost of film and reduced sources for fresh film and good processing.

My first digital camera was the excellent Lumix FZ-50, chosen for its smallish size, light weight, and great flexibility with a wide optical zoom range. It was a great starter camera and I still use it when I want high quality combined with compactness and light weight.

Before jumping to an SLR, I first went smaller with the excellent Powershot SD790. I love this compact camera and am amazed how well it captures images, particular in macro mode. It's great for travel, hiking and beach excursions.

After much research I settled on the Canon 5D Mark II for my digital SLR. I wanted a full-frame SLR and my experiments with the Lumix taught me that I needed something that would work well in low light, or at a small aperture without the need for a tripod. I've been acquiring lenses for the 5D over the past few months and now am at the point at which I shoot with it almost exclusively, except when I need something smaller and more easily protected from the elements.

I still love film and am always drawn to the film photos of my contacts, particularly when shot in black & white.
