This flickr page represents photography created by students at TechBoston Academy located in Dorchester, MA, from September 2007 through January 2008.

The students were participating in the Photographic Resource Center’s Second Sight Photo Program. Under the guidance of experienced artist/educator, Andrew Warren, and teacher assistant Ely Peterson, students studied the tools, techniques, and concepts of photography. They worked with digital cameras, Adobe® Photoshop®, and color and black and white digital outputs to create works of art inspired by their lives and their community.

Students investigated the work of contemporary artists such as Gillian Wearing, David Hilliard, and Dawoud Bey as inspiration for their work. Their projects included:
1) Hopes & Fears - images of peers with text
2) Personal Landmarks - locations of importance
3) Portraits in the World - individuals in the neighborhood
4) Environment & Identity - self-portraits
5) Final Portfolio
Students worked in portraiture, narrative imagery, street photography, conceptual photography, macro work, and digitally manipulated imagery. This is the second year the PRC and TechBoston Academy have collaborated to present this program.

Congratulations to all of the students on their great work!
