Join the “amateur enthusiast” Oly Nikon Learner as he begins the trip into Photo Land exactly 45 years after the first time he peered through a viewfinder.

I began shooting pictures when I was in high school (which was very MANY years ago). My first camera was a little dinky Agfa (German made) which, nevertheless, took really nice photos with strong color.

Circumstances in later years did not allow all that much time for hobbies; eventually though I returned to photography once in university and produced a great many photos which unfortunately were lost during a move from one country to another.

I joined digital in 2003 and never looked back. Now semi-retired, I plan to become serious about acquiring pro skills. For once, I can afford better equipment. But, as we all know, it's not the camera, it is the eye in the viewfinder!

Current cameras: Nikon D7000, Nikon D5000, Olympus E-620.

Walkabout "always with" cameras: Panasonic DMC-TZ10, Nikon Coolpix S9100.

Backup camera: Canon PowerShot SX10IS.

Software: Photoshop CS5.1, Lightroom 3.4.1.

Favorite lenses: Nikkor 35mm f/1.8, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G.

Must-have lenses: Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 Pro DX - Tokina 16.5-135mm f/3.5-5.6 DX.
