The Taragalte Concept

A team of young local Moroccans had a dream to make a contribution, no matter how modest, to the development of the Sahara region of Morocco. This team, coming from a traditional Saharan Nomad background, wished to contribute especially to the preservation of the ancestral heritage of this region.

Taragalte concept was born out of a partnership between the local team with local foundations as well as national and international institutions, all wishing to make a contribution to genuine development of this region.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Taragalte concept not only wants to make an economic contribution to the region, but also to strengthen the cultural exchange between people. To stimulate the cultural exchange, the initiative aims to strengthen the connection between the different communities, already present in the Sahara when the great trade caravans were still running, to increase awareness and preservation of their cultures. Exchanges are not only important between local people, but also for people passing through, among each other and with the locals.


PRESERVE THE PAST AND BUILD THE FUTURE

The initiative wants to build a positive future for the region and people, by learning from, and preserving the past. The purpose of encouraging exchange is not only a tribute to the great trade caravans, but also for the sake of the region's future.

Creating awareness of the past and building new exchanges, will give a boost to traditional art, and create cultural and artistic links between the various African countries across which the Sahara stretches. This will contribute to a sustainable future.

Taragalte concept is the crossroad where these different aims converge. It is the meeting point for exchanges, conservation, friendship, and sharing.
