I still shoot film because I appreciate the original craft of photography and I prefer the results film offers. Part of a dying breed, I love the authenticity of something labor-intensive and that requires sensitive focus. There is nothing like being in the darkroom. I enjoy creating prints that a program cannot.

I do use digital as well, which comes in handy when spontaneity kicks in and I don’t have my shmancy Leica on me. I finally enjoy the modernity and truly love the hyper-color it can present.

Short version of my photography career: I moved to NYC after school to write for American Photo & Popular Photography, where I began to hone my eye for travel, cultural, and urban documentary photography. I’ve been fortunate to travel to diverse places and experience cultures that opened my heart and taught me how to appreciate just being. I’m happy to have landed back in Austin, where I draw from those amazing experiences and apply them to everything creative that I do.
