Welcome to my flickr site – where I share photos taken during extraordinary and ordinary moments.

A little about me...

I've been happily pursuing my interest in indigenous peoples' issues on human rights, development, crafts and culture since my undergraduate days.

I'm the field coordinator for www.elevyn.com, a site which provides market access for indigenous and marginalized communities. When I'm free, I do documentation work for the Center for Orang Asli Concerns.

Photography.....

In 2007, my brother relented to my endless begging and bought me my first DSLR! Isn't he the best?

I particularly like photojournalism for documentation purpose.

Some people have asked if they could come along with me on trips to take photos. I do not organize photo outings to villages/rural areas, as I go to these places for work and not with the primary intend of just taking photos. And for ethical reasons, I do not encourage such practices for the subject matter either.

Right of use....

If you would like to use my photos for commercial or non-commercial reasons, do drop me a note either via Flickr or at szening[at]gmail[dot]com. I hope anyone interested in using these photos respect my copyright over these photos as well as the subject of the photo to whom (where applicable or possible) I will consult prior to allowing right of use to.

"szen's my photo outing kaki. i've seen szen take really nice photos with her point&shoot, and i've seen her take even better photos with her new dSLR. szen and her photos are inspiring to me in the sense that you don't necessarily need a dslr (although having one would be good) to produce great shots. all you need is a tripod, and some REALLY good photoshop skills (and yourself, for those requisite SPs). oh btw, szen is PS2 queen :) looking forward to more photo outings with her and the other two. can't ask for better photog friends. :)"

"Sze Ning has managed to overcome her so-called-limitations of "not having a dSLR" (so she says) by mastering Photoshop within a very short period of time.

Hats off to you, young one! I think your current pictures are absolutely kewl! Can't wait to see what you can produce when you get your first dSLR a couple of months down the road :)

    Keep up the good work!"
