"A fool with a tool is still a fool", or so they say. Well, I am definitely that, but I am having fun with every camera I get my hands on.


I love my dog Daphne who really owns me, and the house, and the universe for that matter. She tells me what to do. We have a great time together.





Anais Nin said "We do not see the world as it is, we see it as we are". To me, this describes photography, even if she didn't intend it this way.








I love Flickr. I love not just the photos, but the camaraderie, the community, meeting people around the globe, seeing the world through another person's eyes. It's a privilege to see how another sees and to learn from it. And it's an intense joy to find a kindred spirit, someone whose vision is similar my own quirkiness. Flickr is an obsession, therapy, and joy. A great big thank you to all.



Why the "31" in the Flickr name "daphne31"? That's because my favorite number is 17, but that was taken, so I doubled it and got 34. But that's not an interesting number, so I chose the nearest prime number, 31. ;-) Yes, I am a geek.

Software:
I am a devoted Mac user and I use Aperture for both library management and the occasional tweak. I shoot both film and digital. I generally don't Photoshop my photos (and even though I am not against it in principle, I cringe a little when I see how it can be overused).

However, I collect old glass negatives (very old, usually over 100 years) and when they are damaged, I use Photoshop to restore them partially.
