I’m weird. And as such I name inanimate objects after bitchass literary characters. Montag, my nikon d300, can be seen performing all over St. Louis at random and various times. Montag and I live in the ‘burbs with my husband, three kids, and two dogs, but we still manage to stay cool.

conniemichelle75 says:
"I have had the pleasure of knowing Sungazing since childhood. As a child, she was seemingly very independent and creative. She even came up with the vision of sunrays being angels. She even had some wild ideas of oranges. Hahahaha. Her visions of our beautiful world were inspiring to me and challenged my own creativity.
To know her now is like knowing someone who turned out to be the person everyone else wants to be. Individual, free-spirited, a great mother, a great friend. I admire her because she has all the qualities I want but fail to possess. What you see is what you get with her, and you never have to wonder who she really is. She is herself, and that in itself is beautiful.
She has turned into a sort of silent mentor for me. One I look up to and want to be more like. I live my life trying to please others too much and really missing out on fun in life by doing so. I love that she is not ashamed of being herself, which is another problem I have with myself. I tend to think "If people knew how dorky I am, no one would want to be my friend." But in observation, Julie has taught me (surely, without her own knowledge) that friends worth keeping are ones who will love you just the way you are.
Julie's photography is breathtaking and nothing short of poetic brilliance. This is another quality I love about her is her creativity in capturing the heart and spirit of any feeling or song or even her own soul. She is truly talented, and I believe that someday her name will be a household name - as it is only a matter of time before the world sees what all her friends see in her. A rare and nearly extinct quality of being one's self and showing others so openly who she is. That is so hard to come by and to also artistically approach it the way she does is even harder to come by.
Her heart is pure, and you can be sure that when you are seeing her or reading about her, she is being honest. "To Thine Own Self Be True" is the best quote I can give for her. She is sincerely a GOOD PERSON. And I hope to learn so much more from her. :)"15th September, 2009

"Sungazing's photography covers every facet of emotion, from the hilarious to the tragic and everything in between. The common thread is wicked creativity and fantastic composure, which makes her images so remarkable and among my favorites on all of flickr. It's always worth the time to check on her photo stream."

"While her seemingly constant flow of creativity impressed me at first, what really leaves an impact on me about Julie is her heart which she so graciously and thankfully shares with us everyday. I knew 365 days run out, but I was sad to see hers end. Then I was psyched to see her start again. I learn so much from the peeks she allows us into her life."

"I enjoy seeing the world through Sungazing's unflinching eyes. Her photos can be at the same time painfully truthful, but remarkablely tender with a touch of whimsy thrown in for good measure."

"*************Disclaimer***************
I am married to this awesome photographer / story teller
***********End Disclaimer************
When you look at Sungazing's photographs, you may not notice all the details and emotions conveyed through her lens, but I have yet to see anyone deliver as consistently as she does. As her husband, I have been privileged to see behind the scenes, and I know that each of her pictures are full of meaning. She will spend hours agonizing over how to best convey a mood, a thought, a desire, and then she manages to bring this to you in a compelling way.
You will not see endless snapshots of mugs of capuccino with a heart drawn into the foam, or pictures of a bunch of photographers taking a group portrait in a public restroom. She has fun with her photography, but she isn't one to remain mired in a tired and stale theme.
What you will see is an artist eternally searching for innovative ways to communicate compassion, love and an increadible understanding of some of the issues we all deal with. She doesn't take sleezy pictures to bribe viewers into exploring her photo stream, and she supports others who are trying to make legitimate art.
In my mind, I have no doubt that Sungazing is one of the most under appreciated and most talented artists to have ever shared their vision with the world. I hope you will take a serious look through the gifts documented here."5th May, 2008

"i looked back at my testimonial for sungazing (julie!!!) today and sort of shook my head and laughed at myself. it just wasn't me...but this isn't about me, is it? no.
what it is about is Julie. although she claims to be a *jack of all trades and master of none*, i'll tell you one thing she is the master of....her camera. whether she's taking self portraits, nature photos, long exposures, etc........she rocks the shit out of them. i'm always excited to see she's posted new photos....and you should be too. be told."28th September, 2007

"Sungazing's photos reflect how she has managed to give full expressions to the happy child she still is in mind. Her photos are filled with playfulness and I can tell for sure that they are taken with a lot of joy. Aware of it or not, she has an eye for all the little things, in nature, in the street, on herself, in the kitchen... Her photos show how to catch interestingness out of the seemingly negligible pieces in life.
