I am a bad photographer.

However, a number of years ago, I moved away from the town I grew up in, thinking I would never return. I did return, and compared it to waking from a coma. I often found myself saying "Wait...didn't that used to look like...." and I wished I had a photograph to which to compare it.

So my photographs fall somewhere between a simple document and art; I at least try to make them visually appealing.

I love cameras though, especially old film cameras. This leads me to have way too many cameras, and take too few pictures to justify them all. I don't like digital cameras, but I am not a snob about it: at the end of it, I just like having a negative (or a slide) rather than a file. And I love using words like "Velvia" and "Reala" and "Portra". However, a good friend picked out a wonderful little digi cam for me that taught me so much about photography; so for that, I am grateful.

More than that, my father used film, and I loved him. So why wouldn't I use the same thing?
