Subtext Projects is an experimental art collaborative exploring fresh, critical approaches to contemporary art. Conceived to forge a dialogue between regional artists, art historians, and writers, Subtext Projects aims to facilitate and encourage an ongoing discussion pertaining to both local and global contemporary artistic issues and practices. A democratic group, subtext members work collectively to generate exhibitions, publications, film series, panel discussions, artist interviews, and lectures. To further the collective structure and exchange of ideas, Subtext has a key interest in exploring alternative venues and collaborations with other groups. A Texas-based group run by a committee of artists and historians, Subtext Projects explores regional, national, and international art.
