The SUBOTRON SHOP is a meeting point for the theoretical and practical discourse on “digital games” and organizes lectures, workshops, social meetings, exhibitions and concerts.
Subotron is positioned at the cutting edge of electronics, gaming, music, and design and explores the historic and future development of computer- and videogames in a sociocultural context.
All handhelds and consoles can be played on and purchased in the shop besides textiles, literature, music, street art, and gadgets from around the world.
In a series of lectures about the theory and practice of digital games that was started in 2005, international and local experts discuss a range of topics from the fields of science, economy and art to enhance the critical debate on recent social developments.

Der SUBOTRON SHOP ist Anlaufstelle und Treffpunkt zur Förderung des theoretischen und praktischen Diskurses zum Themenkreis „digitale Spiele“ und organisiert mit seinem Verein Vorträge, Workshops, social meetings, Ausstellungen und Konzerte.
Wir arbeiten an den Schnittstellen von Elektronik, Spiel, Musik und Design und bereiten die historische und zukünftige Entwicklung von Computer-, Video-, bzw. Telespielen in einem soziokulturellen Kontext auf.
Als Basis dient die permanente Ausstellung von Handhelds und Konsolen der Sammlung Neufeld. Alle Geräte können gespielt und ebenso wie Textilien, Literatur, Musik, street art und gadgets aus aller Welt erworben werden.
Der Verein SUBOTRON führt seit 2005 eine Veranstaltungsreihe zur Theorie und Praxis von digitalen Spielen durch. Er hat mit der wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Erschließung von Computerspielen in Wien begonnen und sich als österreichisches Kompetenzzentrum für die junge Computerspiel-Theorie etabliert. Internationale und lokale ExpertInnen diskutieren Themenkomplexe aus Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Kunst und fördern so die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen.
