www.studiofmtrauts.com exhibits the illustrations of Stuart Fjellanger. Stu’s distinctive style is built on a foundation of academic training in fine art and illustration.

Born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Stu first studied art at Augustana College. His interest brought him to the Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD). After completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design with an emphasis on Visual Communications at MCAD, Stu worked as an independent illustrator and developed a reputation for his linoleum-cut prints. At the same time, he pursued fine art oil painting. In addition to multiple publications, Stu's work has been exhibited in a number of galleries, public spaces, and is a part of many private collections.

In his illustrations, Stu enjoys working with a variety of mediums to express his ideas, particularly in combining linocut prints and digital tools.

In his fine art work, Stu expresses his fascination for the world by depicting images of drama, child-like wonder, humor, and serenity. True to his fondness for variety, Stu conveys these themes in forms such as portraiture, genre, wildlife, landscapes and still life. Stu's fine art work are exhibited at www.StuFjellanger.com.

Besides being a prolific illustrator and studio fine artist, Stu is also an enthusiastic teacher. He enjoys sharing and passing on his knowledge and craftsmanship to his students. His passion for what he does communicates powerfully in the classroom. Stu is presently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts and will graduate in July 2012 at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford, CT.
