I don't mind people using my unedited, original photographs listed here for personal use but please inquire for business usage, and modifications of the originals.

Also, I have dedicated my best to capture these photographs, and each one is very meaningful to me. PLEASE give me credit and link the photos back to this flickr site. Ask me for details and the html code, if you can't find it.

I believe in pure photographs without post-production manipulation and/or enhancement. In a corny way, the essence of the moment. That's why I fancy film and love the results, and still use it.

There's nothing wrong with Photoshop, and I adore many people's work using the program... it's just another medium of art and not what I consider "photography".

But I'm sure I'll hit a wall and be expanding my horizon to one day tinker with Photoshop more. Especially for HDR.

I update this album every chance I have so please visit me often.

* Sept '09: I am officially on hiatus due to my format being film / wet-prints and my computer's old and slow (hardware mainly, consequently my software is outdated and useless too), I have no interest posting my prints digitally online. Although I'd like to setup a webpage sometime in the near future.

* March '09: I've been going through a rut in terms of inspiration and creativity with my photography - specifically digital SLR. I just didn't feel the "art" in it anymore: the over-abundance of work (ironically I'm writing this on flickr), and the ease of the craft now with these sophisticated gear.

I took a big step to combat this dilemma by switching photography medium. I'm now strictly back on b/w medium format film photography and making silver gelatin prints. I parted ways with my beloved F5, I acquired through a friend (sorry!), to fund my Mamiya. Also the Nikon digital is shelved away.

So I'm back in the darkroom making bigger prints. More lately working with people and portraiture. When I get a chance, I will update my flickr with scans.

* October '08: Been busy with other stuff, but autumn has come to the Willamette Valley. I haven't had any projects or even inspirations with my photography, but with the Portland Marathon, I'd like to do portraits again. Portraits of a Runner???...

* June '08: Now I am in love with portraitures like never before. I would like to spend more time and experiment with the theme.

* April '08: I've been doing a lot of b/w film photography - not much digital. So you'll see some b/w goodness.

"Steven quite simply has a great eye for photography. His images focus on perspective, dimension, texture - to me a way of visualizing the future by using the present and past. I'm a huge fan of his architectural photography and his devoted use of film as a medium of living exposure. In fact, it's through his use of film and the images he creates with it that have contributed towards my own exploration of the medium and it's unique but important nuances."
