I was born an identical twin in Detroit, Michigan on April 28, 1942. My brother, Dr. Alan Frenkel, passed away in August of 2003 a the age of sixty-one. I'm sixty-nine now and still miss him every day of my life.
I am a painter and have made some kind of art all of my life. I didn't begin making "studio" art until I was forty-nine years old, however. Eighteen years later I've created over four hundred works of art, primarily paintings. Most of my work involves imaginary scenes.
I've been married to my second wife, Donna, for over eleven years. Between us we have four adult children and six grandchildren. Donna is a promising writer and is studying to become a Reiki massage Master . We live in Marietta, Georgia.

Peter O'Halloran says:
"I don't casually through out praise, but Steve is certainly deserving of all I toss on. His mind is always going a mile a minute and that is evident in his highly creative and inventive art which he has shared with me for several years. I am always suprised and delighted to see what he is cooking up in his studio and am so impressed by the broad range of the vast body of work he has developed. In addition, he is a great supporter of his fellow artists, always at the ready with effusive praise for those he honors and with purchases when he is able. Steve has been a great friend and mentor and I hope you review his work in depth. You are sure to find many things to delight your eye and mind."

Tatsuro Kiuchi says:
"Steve's work is just amazing. I came across one of his paintings on somebody's tumblr blog one day, and I found myself being immediately drawn in to his world of jewel-like paintings. I was lucky to find Steve's flickr sets, and it certainly made my day that day."

siptakg says:
"OK, this guy Steve is up to his raised eyebrows in fabulous, nutty, delightful ideas. It helps that he has the splendid talent to go with those ideas to make the most marvelous art I've come across in a good while. I have to say that I share his passion for toys, machines, inexplicable situations and a little cynicism of the world we live in. He is able to entertain and on the same delicious platter serve up a lot to think about. It is a rather rare and wonderful gift to make us laugh and nod our heads and also feel the occasional tug of heart at the world gone a bit goofy around us.
I so enjoy his world and am always so amazed at what comes up next.
The world, in it's most upside down, inside out adventures....that is the world of the painting of Steve Frenkel."19th October, 2009

DetroitDerek Photography ( ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ) says:
"Steve is a fantastic artist, a great photographer, and a very generous and kind-hearted man. We share a passion for history, old cars, art, and Detroit. Whether you are looking for postcards and images from a time long past, pictures of old cars and trains, or artwork that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face you've found the right place. Take some time out of your hectic day and do yourself a favor, go through Steve's stream. It's time well spent and I bet you'll be smiling when you're done."
