Hailing from Massachusetts, Sterling has been a Los Angeles convert since 1995. He grew up on the campus of Northfield Mount Hermon, a prep school occupying over 1,000 acres on the wooded banks of the Connecticut River in western Massachusetts. It was there he developed a love for nature and being outdoors, and began to take photos of his surroundings.

After a few photography classes in high school, Sterling became an avid shooter, eventually working for the school newspaper. In Boston, at Emerson College he continued shooting. He captured the city with his camera, and enoyed shooting cityscapes in the different seasons.

When moving to Los Angeles, Sterling's photography got serious. He started shooting more frequently. He was building the foundation for what has become his true passion and his career focus.

Amongst shooting portraits, interiors and events for the Dolce Group, Sterling's "Los Angeles at Night" gallery has drawn interest from various magazines and photo galleries worldwide. He has found a voice with these photos that capture the life and essence of the city. "Los Angeles at Night" began with some experimental shots in downtown LA. It then slowly developed into a collection of photos all over the city. Many have said the gallery reminds them of the photography in the movie COLLATERAL, with it's colorful imagery, and often ghostlike representation of the city. Sterling's work has been published in People, Maxim, Us Weekly, Forbes, Wallpaper, and Ocean Drive.

Sterling also has 13 years of experience working in the television industry on such shows as Seinfeld, Candid Camera, The Apprentice, World Poker Tour, and most recently American Idol.
