I first started taking photos in 1984, during my time with the military. When I left the military in the mid 80s I sort of left photography alone for a number of years. In the late 80s I got married and in the early 90s we had our first child, a son, and my need to record his every moment was to great to ignore so I went back to photography. Having very little money at the time I was only able to afford a Practika camera and had to set up a dark room in my attic to create the prints. I then went through a financially lean period and gave up photography completely in the mid 90s. In 2003 I was called back to military service and was sent to Iraq for 6 months. Finding myself in such a wonderful country, with so much going on around me, I was one again drawn back into photography. Now with the digital age upon us the process of taking the photos and then being able to get access to them almost immediately fired my passion to new heights. I returned to Iraq in 2005 as a private contractor for the US Corp of Engineers and have been able to take my photography more seriously now. I use a Nikon D70s/200 & D2x with an assortment of lenses etc.
I have had a number of photos printed in photography magazines but now want to be able to earn some income from my work. Once I am finished in Iraq and return home it is my goal to start earning a regular income from my photography, but I accept I have a lot to learn before this will become a reality.
