I am a professional night landscape photographer with 20 years of experience. My portfolio has all the major Cascade peaks framed by comets, planets, constellations, and star clusters. I search out back road viewpoints that to my knowledge have not been professionally photographed (except one, Mt. Beljica by Art Wolfe). Guided tours are available. I also have used artificial light to illuminate mountains with the help of a volunteer group, the Northwest Light Brigade.

In July, 2010, I suffered a stroke. The damage was minimal, only a slight impairment in my right (dominant) hand. The speech was more severe; more than a year later it has improved substantially.

My gear -- two Olympus OM-1 bodies and several fast, single focal length lenses, two Yashica Lynx 14e 35 mm rangefinders with a 45 mm f/1.4 lens, a Zeiss Super Ikonta folding 6x6 with an 80 mm f/2.8 lens, an Argus C3 system with three lenses and some accessories, and a Bronica 6x6 with three lenses. Plus several tripods, flash units, and other stuff.

My night landscapes are 1920 x 1440 x 100 dpi. All others are 1024 x 768 x 100. All of my night photos have technical data with them, including the source of the digital image (film or print scan). Although some of my flickr photos are from negative or slide scans, most of them are scanned from prints which I originally made from negatives on a Kodak Create-a-Print machine at Overlake Photo in Bellevue. This analog machine was literally a darkroom in a box. About the size of an arcade video game, it would display your color negative on a screen so you could adjust cropping, brightness, and color. Then, in 5 minutes it would expose and process a darkroom print. Thank you, Tom Oakley, for keeping that machine in operation when almost all others were scrapped.

All of my images are copyrighted except for a few which I released for royalty-free licensing. I sell framed and unframed darkroom prints out of my home studio in Seattle's Rainier Valley, where my wife and I have lived over 20 years. Digital prints and framing for some of my photos is available at:
