amarettogirl says:
"Gregg Emery is an artist that transcends. He is fascinated with connections, the world around him and having a true exchange between viewer, subject and artist. He is a prolific abstract expressionist painter, as well as, an avid gesture drawer as you see here so often. His paintings resonate with poetic contemplation about being centered in constant changing flux of place. He draws everywhere, ceaselessly, at any moment and on any thing with one small piece of graphite. There is no mark on the page that is not important even if unintended...he hasn't seen an eraser in years. I fight with him to sign his drawings and he gives most of them away to the subjects for free - Why? Not because he wants to be broke for the rest of his life ... but because therein lies the true manifestation of his art - the exchange. He captures the human nuances in each subjects character, the hands folded, the downward eyes, the emotional charge of our quiet moments sitting, waiting, passing time.
Stainboy is such a great name, for his graphite stained hands...I have been blessed and am the better for having crossed his path."18th July, 2008
