To be honest, if it wasn’t for Portraits, I wonder if I would have ever felt as passionate about Photography as I have done. Since I was young, it has been the people who surround me that are the most fascinating aspect of my life. I am lucky to have been close to a diverse range of people, one reason for this being my childhood in the Middle East. Since discovering Photography, I have captured images of the people in my life.

Women tend to take centre stage in the majority of my images, displaying a variety of emotions, sometimes overt, sometimes hidden. My sister in particular, has been one of my most interesting subjects and I have photographed her from the ages of ten until the most recent images of her at twenty-one. As a teenager growing up in England, I had many issues with myself and the role of women in society. These issues were explored in my earlier photographic works. I took images on location and in the studio, using medium format and 35 mm black and white film.

I was fortunate enough to study for my BA at London College of Communication and Anglia Ruskin University. I then went on to work as ‘Photographer in Residence’ at Hills Road Sixth Form College and at a commercial studio in Cambridge. I have worked for many years as a free lance Photographer particularly in the area of weddings. I have continued to photograph and am currently lecturing in Photography at Cambridge Regional College.
