A pointy-head professor with a love of mechanism (biology), processes (construction) and behavior (people, insects and plants). Macro photography is my tool for capturing insect behavior (primarily spiders) and keeps me returning to the same places in order to look for change.

I've worked in the Soviet Union (2 months/year 1987-1992 in Moscow), Russia (1993-2002 1 month/year, Pushchino), Chennai India (1993-1994), Greece (1997), Egypt (1 month/year 1990 - 1992). Currently, I'm based in Singapore.

A golden silk spider that appeared in our garden in the US started my interest in insect behavior and macrophotography. After about a year, there was a bridge being built about a mile away so these two sources of behavior became the focus of my weekends. The bridge was completed in 2005 and the older bridges that it replaced have now been unbuilt so what to do? Here in Singapore, I've decided to look for what others don't see (small insects etc), observe behavior and work on better macro technique. I am consolidating my Photo Essays (mostly nature) here.
