About me
I am self-taught and have been taking photos for a few years, initially with a Canon EOS 50e (tagged eos50escanfromprint) and in the last 3 years with a Canon EOS 350D. I'm mostly into scenery stuff, and must admit getting a real buzz showing people what little ol' NZ has to offer.



About where I live
I live in Christchurch, located in the South Island, New Zealand. I'm so proud to call this place my home. The world has many beautiful places, but the South Island seems to have got lucky and squeezed a bit of everything into an island no more than 800 km long and 300 km wide. All my photos on Flickr have been taken in the South Island.



About my photography
My main aim is to recreate what my eye saw at the time of shooting. This often differs from what the camera is able to capture, and to that extent I rely heavily on Photoshop, particularly to improve contrast, colour and shadow details. Other than that, I strive to capture all aspects of the image at the time of exposure, and certainly don’t use Photoshop to change, add or subtract compositional elements (except through cropping) or try and push the image too far beyond what I consider ‘real’.

I have so much to learn about photography. I’m always looking for ways to improve, so comments etc are welcomed!

There are just far too many groups on Flickr for me to keep track of, and besides, I'm not a fan of spamming photos across a gazillion groups.
