I gasped at a photograph of her wearing a wig and holding a piece of fruit. I wanted with all my heart to be that beautiful woman. Then to find she was the photographer as well... "In the world of flickr, the photos of Solea are like a drug. Carmen has a gift to entice with one photo, seduce with another, and inspire with the next. While her subject matter varies, all of her photos are creative and full of life.

I find myself looking forward to seeing what Carmen will share next, and it's no coincidence that many of her photos can be found in my favorites. I encourage others to view her sets, as they are a joy to view time and again. One warning when viewing her photos; they're addictive.

"Solea and I go way back. I remember it was the summer of 1982 and she and I were just little ones back then living on the island of Puka Puka. We spent our days dreaming of starting a business together catering towards the grooming of llamas. We would concoct new magical recipes for yogurt and then dress badgers and other rodents in 80’s new wave costumes so that we could shoot them in highly choreographed music videos set to the music of “Girls On Film’ by Duran Duran. Later in the 80’s we started a metal band called “Dark Sasquatch” and went on tour with the band the “Scorpions.”… We were huge in Paraguay and Missouri. You should hear Solea rip it on the bass…hold onto your mind!

In all seriousness folks, Solea is an artist. I can’t stress enough that everyone should take the time to look at her work. She has this remarkable ability to remind us of the beautiful/ universal truths of being human and what it means to be a participant of nature. I have always felt that the best artists make the best storytellers and that is exactly how I dub Solea."

Take a look at any Solea shot and you’ll have to wade through the crowds of comments from her legions of admiring punters to get a glimpse of the latest masterpiece. This woman provides a free lesson in light as far as I’m concerned. I have learned so much so quickly from Carmen’s moody black & whites and wonderfully-lit portraits. Her images have not so much crawled under my skin as aggressively squatted in my frontal lobes. There are a select few on Flickr who have the power to do this – haunt you with their images long after you’ve seen them, but she’s one.
