I enjoy taking photos on a casual level. I generally don't go out seeking photos, but take them as they come. I think as I go on I should pre-plan and seek out more interesting photos. Friends seem to like my photos, so I guess I'm doing something right.

I like creating panorama photostitch images. You really get a sense of place from a 180 or 360 degree photo. I also like to use natural lighting - avoiding the use of a flash as much as possible.

I started my Flickr account with a large amount of vacation photos of Mexico. After exploring Flickr more, I see that it is a place to showcase your best photos, not just a convenient photo album. So from now on it will be a place for my favorite photos in my collection - not just an online place for all my vacation or party photos.

My user name is taken from the Thomas Dolby song White City off of the Flat Earth album. The first line of the song is "Keith was the sole inhabitant". I used that name on mailing lists in the past and started this account with that name in November 2005.

In January 2006, Thomas Dolby started his comeback, first with some So Cal shows at the House of Blues supporting The English Beat. I attended a couple of the shows and uploaded cell phone photos during the concert for the Thomas Dolby email list Alloy. Later in March when Dolby was preparing his solo national tour, he premiered the poster for the tour on his web site with the name "The Sick Individual Tour". Elaine from the Alloy list suggested that my Flickr account name "Sole Inhabitant" would make a better sounding tour name. In a matter of days the tour poster changed and there you have it - The Sole Inhabitant Tour, now available on CD and DVD. You'll find plenty of pictures of the tour in my Thomas Dolby Concerts set. I ended up seeing him six times in 2006. It was odd seeing my Flickr account name on the tour merchandise. To give credit where credit is due ($10) , he did come up with the lyric first. I just re-purposed it, and he re-re-purposed it.
