It took me years to realise that photography is about feeling, not technicalities. It’s about capturing mood, not just ensuring a picture is sharp or correctly exposed. Now I’ve thrown away the rule book and shoot more from the heart.

As well as photography, I like apples with a leaf on the stalk, freshly washed strawberries, warm samosas on a Thursday morning, expired film, The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, The Who, The Kinks, sunny Monday mornings with no traffic holdups, Friday afternoons, milky tea, my chilli plant, Ainsley Harriott cup soups, masala tea, Oreos, waking in Venice to the sound of church bells, the scent of jasmine on a warm Italian breeze, Tunnocks Teacakes, thin cut marmalade, egg butties with white pepper, fish and chips, Upstairs Downstairs, shiny shoes, stripy shirts, and bananas.

I only use compact cameras, and shoot mainly digital, but sometimes use film.

I mostly photograph Venice, but sometimes snap other things.

    L. Lew says:

"Refreshingly, Brian's photos never fail at being honest, ethereal, and full of feeling that is both similar to one's daily experience, yet wildly different. I often find myself mystified at the daily (or at least weekly) happenings in his life, as he gives you just enough visual play to envision life in his shoes, while withholding enough detail to keep you wondering. Overall, snapCandy creates immaculate eyeCandy for visual life."
