The choice in a square format imposes it's own frame of symmetry around a subject where one does not have to think in terms of horizontal vs vertical. He has what I call "old school" photographic knowledge and techniques. When you see an e l e c t r o l i t e photo, you know it's not some over-worked Photoshop creation; he has the genuine camera skills to produce the brilliant work he does the old fashioned way...behind the camera, not behind the computer.
