SMCA and LOCAL 19 PARTNERSHIP: PROVIDING CLEAN AIR SOLUTIONS

As the nation focuses on more sustainable, green alternatives for reducing energy cost and consumption, industries within the building and energy arenas are searching for opportunities to lead in the effort. The sheet metal industry plays a critical role in energy usage. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) consume between 40 and 60% of energy consumption in commercial and residential buildings.

SMCA and Local 19 are working together to “provide clean air solutions to commercial and residential buildings in the Philadelphia area , as well in parts of New Jersey and the entire state of Delaware.

To help reduce energy use and costs in buildings and residential areas, SMCA contractors employ Local 19 workers to update HVAC systems. Updated HVAC systems also ensure that the air people breathe (including our children) is clean. Outdated ventilation systems can cause serious health problems because of indoor pollutants in the air, such as bacteria, fungus, gases and mold. The materials used are eco friendly and practices applied ensure safety measures are met especially in places like schools, hospitals, banks and office buildings.
