"Susan is a joy to work with. I had her as my photographer for my wedding this past Valentine's Day. I am just absolutely in love with her fresh styles. I have not seen photographers do what Susan has been able to do. Hence, she has been renamed to Ninja Photographer. :) I plan on taking having our dogs have their photos taken by Susan in the future."

"susan is the awsomist.. even if I didn't think she was the awsomist I'd still love her work. inspired, smart, fun, serious, beautiful, true, she flirts with the world and it unveils itself in a most disarming and lovely way."

"Kids this is your new Auntie Susan
She likes dogs, cars and tattoos.
She dislikes pretentious people and Scientologists.
As a result she takes wicked, cool pictures.
She says she isn't stalking us... but if you're lucky she might change her mind."31st January, 2008

"Assisting Smalldogs is a lot like working for Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada. "Yes Ms Sabo, I'll pick up your laundry and take take the small dogs out for a potty break. No Ms Sabo, I don't mind picking up dog poop. I know, this will make me a better photographer one day."
Actually Smalls is the coolest girl in the school. Her photography is inspiring and I plan to pay close attention and steal everything I can. If you click on my next self portrait and I have 7 tattoos, you will know the Single White Female thing is in full force."11th December, 2007

"i liken susan to a badass oreo: tough on the outside, sweet on the inside, and a winning package overall. she recognizes the need for dog-on-tooth kisses—enough said. almost. this is a terrific, inspiring photographer, and we her fans are generally clamoring for more."

"smalldogs takes some incredible photos. i find myself gasping, more often than not, at what she's captured now. or how she's captured it. really, it's both. because she's got some mad skills, y'all.
i don't often use the word brave, but really it's most apt in this case. she ain't afraid to tell it like it is, take risks. that's a quality i really admire, and that we could all use a little more of. people being who they are.
oh, and the midwest would be honored to have her back -- any time!"14th November, 2007

Compromised Exposure says:
"Susan has so many testimonials! I will add another.
One of the things I love about photography is that its possibilities are limitless. Susan embraces this theory in her technique; she is unafraid to take risks and that is why I find myself looking forward to her stream. Whether she's trying new lighting or studying an overlooked subject the results always are inspiring. You can sense the personality of the best photographers in their work; Susan comes across as a sensitive, compassionate, and daring person who has a cultivated sense of fun.
Thanks for sharing all of your photos, Susan, and keep them coming!"10th October, 2007

"I have wanted to write a testimonial for Susan for ages, but I am useless at writing - unlike her - she is an incredible artist, both an excellent photographer (and so inspiring) and a great writer (I devoured both her novels)... a smile always lights up my face when I see a new post from her on my contacts page - she gives so much of herself - sharing her triumphs and doubts (and teaches me a lot along the way) and always offering a positive comment :) Thank you for everything Susan!"

"What else is there to say about smalldogs besides that she is a wonderful photographer. She has inspired me in so many ways. It's an honor for me every time she visits my photo stream. I look up to her natural talent as something I would like to aspire to have one day. She is sarcastic, easy going and she doesn't take any crap. All the unique qualities that make her such a great person."

"You might say she's not all there. I mean her photos. Susan has posted far more pictures than you see on her stream. She gets bored and deletes them -- some really good ones, too. She first caught my attention with her fun portraits and pictures of signs around Los Angeles. Her sense of style and sense of humor have kept me coming back. She's such a fun Flickr friend to have around."

"I've been considering a proper testimonial for Susan for months now. I just don't know if I can adequately express how fantastic her photos are with my puny words. It's not only her photos that are fantastic though; as a person, she does a pretty damn good job of inspiring awe too. She's not one those fluffy, blow-smoke-up-your-ass types. She's genuine. She's unpretentious. She is a force to be reckoned with."

"I just spent fifteen minutes catching up on Susan's photos after an inexcusable absence. In those fifteen minutes, I laughed, I cried, and I had the best breakfast I've had in many a day. I attribute all of those to her.
She's a great photographer and a totall badass and clearly a remarkable person and I wish she lived down the street."28th June, 2007

*cindi* says:
"Susan and I live on different planets and yet there is something thru our images that keeps us connected. The dogs? The never-ending drama of hair? Our affection for anything retro? Being mothers and loving our children?
Susan and her images remind me that I, too, was a child of the 60’s and 70’s; she reminds me it’s ok to question, to take a stand and make a statement. And once again I am shown thru photography and conversation - we are all more alike than we are different.
Rock on, Susan. And thank you for inspiring me to never let go of that small part of me that is wild and crazy. As I once told her – someday we’ll go have a drink and not talk. (She knows what I mean. And this is where I would put a winkie icon but I know she would hate that.)"27th October, 2006

"ok i'm gonna get all gushy here. but i must speak the truth, as in testify - cos this is a testimonial after all. i know she will beg off this kind of praise, but woman? deal with it. this here is some big-time flickrlove for your fine self.
in the three months since i've been on flickr, susan has, quite simply, become one of my heroes. i mean it. she inspires me in the truest sense of that word. she's whip-smart. she's funny. she's kind. she's brave. she's got the coolest tattoos i've ever seen. she's REAL.
and she takes some of the best goddam photographs i've ever seen."18th May, 2006

"smalldogs (Susan) always captures something a little different than the norm. She has a knack for shooting everyday life with interesting details. He dog photos are first rate, crazy, and fun. I love seeing Lola, Buzz, and Gracie("G") through Susan's camera lens. They are three very different personalities portrayed masterfully. I always look forward to viewing my contact's page to see what going on in Susanville."

Evan G says:
"Susan's photos have moved me to write a testimonial about her. Since coming on to Flickr, her photos have made me go to my contacts page to see if she's got anything new up. I've lived in Long Beach and LA my whole life, and she finds things that I've seen before, but shoots them in a way that make them seem like new to me. I'm so glad that Flickr has introduced me to amazing photographers like her."

Zen Cat says:
"Someone once said “Every picture tells a story” well that cannot be more true than when it comes to Susan’s work. She says more in one photo of this great City of Angels than any one tour guide can in a paid by the minute hour.
She will mix you up in the watery pale colors of a rundown parking lot restroom or take you into the heart of a homeless person that is not so invisible. Her photographs of signs say more than signs are intended to say and if that were not enough she will fire up the Puppy-cam and give you a canine eye-shot of the city at any given minute.
And as far as self portraits go, every one is of a different woman; she truly bypasses the “Look at me” stage that comes with most self portraits and instead offers insight.
From the Miracle mile to a reverse angle of Pasadena’s Suicide Bridge she is a treasure to this city. Yup, miss her work and you’re missing a lot."19th November, 2005
