Sunset Sailor says:
"I am sadly delinquent in presenting this testimonial. I have long been a HUGE fan of the art of Skyshaper. He’s become known, to me, as SS. We refer to one another as SS, he being the other SS. That said, he is far the superior SS when it comes to artistry. His images are deserving of an entire gallery, anywhere in the world. I say that in all seriousness. This guy can walk into the big city and come out with visions that startle the emotions of anyone who has the privilege of viewing them. SS is a prophet of mankind, able to speak any language with a carefully crafted image. He possesses a sense of magic in being able to take an image and scream a message from it. He brings to light the feelings of the homeless and downtrodden. He speaks for all of us, who at one time or other have felt down and out. Lest we think he is only talented in his imagery, try reading one of his rarely posted narratives. He’s a genius writer, as well. I’ve hounded him for years to produce a book, or acquire a gallery. For now, I am most grateful that his gallery is Flickr. I get to see and feel the world, though his eyes, in his city. I tip my hat to my friend, SS, from SS (the other one)."

"I would be so shy of taking the kind of shots Skyshaper takes. I would be wrestling with the opposing thoughts that a) I would be highlighting a subject that needs to be highlighted and b) I would be exploiting someone with absolutely nothing and parading them on my photostream.
He has balls. He does it in such a way that the viewer doesn't feel he/she is a voyeur but a watcher of a meaningful documentary.
He is unflinching and powerfully direct in his subject choices.
He is the best marriage of style and substance on Flickr.
Long live SkyShaper."7th January, 2010

"SkyShaper...One of my earliest contacts on flickr, I still remember the visual shock (in a good way) that I had when I discovered his photo stream. He definitely has a unique style. All his photos have a strong philosophical message, and make your neurons work more than the usual! His creativity has no limits, he likes to experiment in the whole spectrum of photography and beyond. His latest work makes me want to call him the 'Dali of the Pixel Age'."

vankufer says:
"What is it that Skyshaper does so well? Why and how is it, that he sees what he sees, the way the he sees it?
That's something that keeps me coming back again and again, not to analyze but to experience, because really, as with any artist, it's something that's beyond analysis.
Is it the trademark Skyshaper, creative, tasteful and intuitive use of textures and colours? Its more than that.
Is it the amazing skill that he has of being able to capture images that are, not only highly emotive but stunningly technical at the same time? Nah, that's not it either.
Its all of those things, and one more.
Like all true artists, you can have the instincts and the talent, but it don't mean a thing without the people. The secret to Skyshaper is the humanity of the man and his sense of it. Compassion.
Peace and Love Skyshaper."3rd September, 2008

"I try to keep my contacts list very short. The reason why is because I look for photographers that I can learn from their work. Keeping it short allows me to watch what each one is doing. SkyShaper was one of my first to add to my short list. I've watched his work for quite some time now and I absolutely adore what he chooses as subject material and then how he takes that subject and makes it into an interesting piece of art. It's not just ordinary art, it's talented. I like his compostion, colors, processing and the way he approaches life. His photos speak of life, every day life subjects, and presents them to us with a true passion. Can't wait to see how his work matures, changes and continue to evolve. LOVE HIS WORK!"

"Mr. Skyshaper is one Flickr member whose works are a habitual cravings for me. I like to check him out for what he does. I have been to NYC, tho, SS hood n places to roam are something i'd llike to go to when i am there, just to kibbitz by myself as to what SS did to make the ordinary extremely out of bounds artistically. To see the real as compred to SS foto world. I meant this as a high compliment to his talent.
In a BB game, he is the dude to go fast you and make the swoosh move. Yes that is the reason I crave for his everyday flickr postings. To see the stuff he is capable of doing. i wish that feel for myself when somebody visits my site. I wishes I get the same respect as S gets, to many degrees i try to measure up upon SS calibre.

Oniric Mermaid says:
"SS is one of my favourite photographers in Flickr. I love his mastery in street photography, his creativity and his continous experimentation. I Love the way he digs in human psyche in the blink of a click, offering the viewer a panoply of human visions, reactions and interactions in that well of humanity that is New York with long Island (It sounds good no? Payments later :D). His photos from Cyprus are more tender, bucolic and personal, and I love them, too. Talented Mr Sky's images are always powerful, moving, funny and heartful (and sometimes "titful" and "bottomful" - beware). Love your style :O Yassas."

"SkyShaper was the first user that i didn't personally know, to comment on one of my pictures, out of the blue. I was flattered, naturally, but after seeing his work, i was simply blown away, once realising the level that his work's at.
Thus he enriches my RSS feed everyday. I am trully honoured to have been found by him.
As for the lyrism of his work, the compositions are simply astounding. May there be, or not be technical flaws in his photographs, they are rendered inexistent by the message, the feelings and the ammount of processing that goes into most of his work, turning each of his images into a perfect masterpiece. His photos simply blow you away, they spin you around, dazzle your senses, and all you're left with in the end is the feeling that you've just whitnessed something trully great, and that you're a part of the Big Apple.
May your work still exist in two hundred years."23rd August, 2007

"As on most days today I wanted to comment on every one of SkyShaper's immaculate images that conjure up a city of dreams - reflecting the hope, despair and joy of life lived within the confines of an urban environment.
Anyone who can shine a brilliant new light on a city with a visual history as rich as New York deserves applause. And one as technically proficient as SkyShaper continually astounds.
But it is the humanity of of the photos that floors, provokes, stills and ultimately inspires.
Rather then comment on another set of pulsing images from NY's streets I'd like to say bravo and thank you and long may you run."10th July, 2007

"If there's any artistic moment, Skyshaper's there to assure another priceless piece of history is delt with properly. His post processing goes beyond anything I've ever seen in my life. It's like reading a picturesque novel about peoples lives.
I even wrote this cool poem about it:
Georgie Porgie pudding and pie
kissed all the girls and shaped the sky
...pretty damn good, don't ya think?
Yeah write it sux! That's why I just read SkyShapers threads all the time so I can think about something fun and exciting to enlighten me.

"Nobody documents the human condition better than SkyShaper. His depictions of everyday life on the city street capture moments that go unnoticed by most. In his photostream, subjects of humor and joy sit right next door to depictions of those in the throes of despair, and loneliness.
No matter the subject matter, all are lovingly treated and stylized with a distinct palette that makes a SkyShaper photo instantly recognizable from the crowd. He is truly a unique talent on Flickr."18th April, 2007

~EvidencE~ says:
"Break The Rules..... Words from one of my fav Photograper/Artist's Skyshaper.....
Im in my car, it's a red light outside the passenger window, a worker is cutting cement with a giant blade, he's all dirty and built like a brick, he is not even paying attention as he dials a number on his cell with one hand and cuts the cement with the other, a SkyShaper moment i say to myself, the light turns green and off i go. So many moment's now in my life have become SkyShaper moments just last week I seen a police officer question 4 kids about alcohol outside the liquor store, they all looked to young and he was asking to show there ID. A perfect ShyShaper shot.
This is how Sky Shaper's images have effected my life, his images each a genuine masterpiece so brilliantly shot and then processed to magic....and creatively titled.
Some of his images will make you laugh your head off like ~ DAMN ! .... SKYSHAPER GOT ME ! and others can bring you back to your childhood like ~ "Look ! ... A Photo-Shopped sky !" others have such magic ~ THE SOUND OF ONE HAND CLAPPING.
Look through his photo stream straight from the street, from his place in space his creative mind they all will take you away, they all have a edge and story of there own.
Warning be careful the next time you crawl inside a SkyShaper image you might not come back for awhile they leave you craving more n more..."13th April, 2007

joewig says:
"To try to say in words what viewing the images that Sky has touched and transformed into something beyond words is--beyond words. Viewing a handful of his masterpieces for more than five minutes can bring tears to a grown man's eyes and shut the mouth of his staunchest critic. Anyone professing to be a photographer of any merit will have to admit that his images are no less than brilliant. Surely God has touched this man's hands and eyes and heart and has given him a talent so rich in depth that King Solomon would envy him.
His work needs no introduction.
His style needs no explanation.
His talent knows no bounds.
Sky is the artist's artist and the photographer's photographer. He can take the mundane and transform it into a prize. He can capture moments that flee from most eyes.
Is it a bird? is it a plane? No, it's Supersky. This guy is BAAAAD. His work has no comparison because it's from his heart where no one can come close to touching it.
Here's a promise: Look again at one of his images. Aside from wanting to jump inside the picture to see how he did it, you'll find that each time you "look," you'll "see" something you hadn't seen before.
Ga'head. Try it."27th March, 2007

cyanatic says:
"There's a word that I use to describe the unique quality that I almost always find in a SkyShaper photograph, but I hesitate to use it since it sounds like such overblown b.s.
That word is: soul.
Flickr.com boasts a plethora of talented photographic technicians: HDR technicians, glamour shot technicians, Photoshop technicians, black & white technicians, etc. But at the end of the day, there are not that many photographers from whose work you can get an indefinable, gut sensation of depth. And I'm not talking about heart rending photos of the down and out or the disenfranchised. Anyone with a digicam and access to the streets of a major city can take pictures of the homeless. Just like anybody can buy a copy of Photoshop, LucisArt, or Photomatix. There's a quality to SkyShaper's imagery that goes beyond technique, subject matter, post-processing....or words.
But if I had to use more than one word, I would simply call SkyShaper's work "jazz for the eyes". And like the great Louis Armstrong once said when asked to define jazz: "Man, if you have to ask what it is, you’ll never know.”
As for the man himself...you'd be hard pressed to find a more generous spreader of kind words and inspiring encouragement. He's the real deal."16th February, 2007

"This is way overdue and it's about time I added my contribution to the already huge litany of praise for this amazing photographer.
SkyShaper was one of the very first guys on flickr to properly bend my mind and he's been doing it ever since. The strength of personality which comes across in all his photo's is intoxicating and regardless of what style he feels like throwing down on any given day one of his photo's is instantly recogniseable. He represents his home city of New York with incredible insight, tuned to a frequency most can't receive, he paints the unseen corners, derelict warehouses, and darkened alley ways of his city and it's people sympathetically, without condescention, & dramatically but without pretense. And on top of all this he's an absolute top bloke who will always share his time with you and give back of himself without reservation. Here's to you Shaper!"11th February, 2007

"Skyshaper is one of the best photographers I ever crossed with. His talents are not only constrained within photography, as can be easily demonstrated by his work in flickr.
But the best characteristic I found is the always positive and humble way in which he communicates his opinion and respect on other people's work.
That is a remarkable behavior on anyone, but is more impressive in talented people like him.
Be assured you will find some of the best pictures of flickr among his."28th December, 2006

"I look at your photos EVERYDAY and my biggest problem is which one moves me the most, makes me want to be a better person, makes me want to be a better photographer, makes me smile the most or brings tears to my eyes. Can you "Favorite" a whole stream??? I can tell you that HDR will be my next attempt and that has to do with you. I have seen so many streams of HDR and NONE move me the way yours do. The way you can take a simple picture of a bed or half naked girls on a post card and turn it into something that is truly art is so far beyond me...you have a way of taking the ordinary and turning it into something so real and full of passion and life. For this I thank you. (plus I like all your song lyrics in you profile) Your titles fit so well...how you manage to pull core out of the photograph and give it words is one of my favorite parts of you work it adds that much more to the picture. I hope this is what you do for a career because your passion truly comes through in your
photos and we should all do what we are passionate about.

"Sky, my friend, you are amazing. For a long time I disliked HDR, because so many people out there are heavy-handed with this technique, to the extent that it detracts rather than adds to the image itself. From the first time I saw your images and your style, you changed my mind and I fell in love with it. You have just the right touch - a true artist's hand - to bring out the best qualities in your images.
That's only half the story, however... Beautiful colors don't do much if the images themselves are mediocre. You have a keen eye for composing and framing your subjects. In addition, you don't just make "pretty pictures". Whether it's a surreal street scene with a rainbow glow, or a homeless person hunched over in despair, every image you take has a message to convey... a thought to express... a feeling to provoke in the viewer. So many of your images have a much deeper meaning than just a well-executed, attractive image.
You have a profound empathy and understanding of people, from a young child playing on a beach to an elderly woman, sad and lonely in a crowd of people. These abilities always permeate and shine through your work.
I am honored to have you as a contact and friend, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to learn from your work and your comments. This testimonial should have been written a long time ago, but I have been too engrossed in your amazing images, and haven't noticed how much time has passed!"24th November, 2006

"With each click I am taken on an incredible journey through the streets of New York City. Each photo has a story to tell, each leaving me breathless and wishing I could venture into the scene itself. I have never seen anything like the photographs that SkyShaper shares with all those lucky enough to see his work. Never have I felt so emotionally attached to a city that I have yet to have had the pleasure of visiting, nor have I wanted to visit a city so badly after viewing his photographs.
His use of HDR is bold and stands out from the rest, like his photographic style, it is in your face and demands attention which cannot be denied! But there is also a softer side to SkyShapers images, as they exude such passion for life and compassion toward others. I can only imagine (and wonder) what is next to come. However, I do know that whatever it is he choses to photograph, whatever location he finds himself in, it will be something completely amazing, mind blowing and presented in distinct SkyShaper fashion.
Thank you S.S....you continue to amaze me and I am honored to call you my friend."30th September, 2006

"SkyShaper’s photos are the best thing to come out of New York since The Ramones. Certainly, they comprise some of the best images of that city ever taken. I don’t know what HDR is (as of this writing), but I do know that SkyShaper’s use of the technique has resulted in startlingly vibrant and colorful images of The Big Apple – even its seedier side - and its denizens. I don’t know what his day job is, but the NYC Chamber of Commerce ought to snap him up for his ability to snap the city so eloquently."

"SkyShaper, I am really taken by the consistently high quality in your images.....I love the romantic realism, the lush colors and fresh eye bravely memorializing ordinary moments. You seem to embue what you do with a child-like innocence and joy that harkens back to......strawberry fields and magical mystery tours of yore....I'm enjoying your work and learning lots.....thanks ;~)>"

"SkyShaper's work is amazing. I would tire clicking the FAVE button on his stream if I was truly honest. What floors me though, is that his comments on my bungled work is so kind and "over the top". Thank you, friend!"
