I have never been serious about photography until early this year. I have never owned an analog/traditional cameras, not even a point-and-shot camera until I was in my late 20s. I tend to remember and think about places I have visited in terms of the ideas and emotions they reminded me of. I was also more audio-inclined than visually-inclined when I sense the world around me. I suppose a very high degree of short-sightedness did make me use my ears more than my eyes to remember the places I was in. The first camera I ever had was a Canon A4 digital camera, with less than a mega pixel of resolution. I was having quite a bit of fun with it but never took photos with deeper reflection. I lost the A4 somewhere in Namibia, Africa, when I went for an Africa Southern Arc tour by The Drifter. I manage to claim my insurance and bought a series of Canon digital point-and shot camera, Canon S10, S30, A90 and Ixus. This year I have a chance to visit the K2 base camp in Pakistan. The group leader somehow asked me to be the group photographer and I thought why not? Spent sometime to research and finally got myself an entry level DSLR Nikon D40 with a 18-200mm VR lens. And the world of imaginaries and visual play slowly open for me.
